Hayley Williams Disses Luke Hemmings On Twitter For Wearing Misfits Shirt ‘Know Your Band Shirt’

know-your-band-3know-your-bandknow-your-band-25 Seconds Of Summer fans are very upset over Hayley Williams diss of Luke Hemmings for wearing a ‘Misfits’ shirt at Billboard Awards. Do YOU think that Hayley Williams is a cyberbully? Source. Thx Erin! :)

This isn’t bullying. I think Hayley was just stating she doesn’t like it when people wear band shirts with bands they know nothing about. I don’t think she was shading Luke like the first guy was… Though the last tweet sounds a bit like “He could be… But I doubt it” sort of tone.

    • guest

What I took from it was that she was saying you don’t need to know a bunch of song titles to be considered a “fan” of a band. There should be no level of what you know about said band to like them. There shouldn’t be a test or a certain level that someone has to reach. That’s what think she was getting at.

      • yung illuminati

really? I took it the complete opposite. It sounds more like she’s agreeing with him rather than stating his point of view is pet peeve of hers.

      • honesty

I was gonna say you could take it both ways until I saw her hashtag “know your band shirt” meaning you should know the band on your shirt. She was saying she hates when people wear shirts with band names they know nothing about.

    • anony

i think first it sounds like shes agreeing with him than after he warned her to be careful she toned down a bit lol im starting to dislike her

  • TruthYouAreAllThinking

Its not bullying… These little shits only became famous because of little one direction fans.
They didnt work their way up like most bands.
They think they are so “unique” and “different” when really they first off look 14, and we have seen this before with EVERY pop punk rock band before them.
Their problem is they try to hard and end up looking like a middle school band playing for the middle school, school dance.

    • Andy

I think you need to look more into their story to judge. You clearly know nothing and being immature about it does nothing either. 1d had a small impact on them. They’ve actually worked their way through. Artists now a days are becoming more known bc of the media and social network that is now used very much. Please think before you speak. People like you make this world a little less happy.

      • Lori

I also think that the way artist look or act should have nothing to do with the music they are producing. They shouldn’t get judged or confronted about their choice of clothing. Nobody can tell them how to dress and they shouldn’t have to dress for anyone. I agree with the comment above tbh because if we know nothing then we shouldn’t speak.

  • Lucy

The way I see it…. you should NEVER have to justify what type of music you like. Hayley of all people, who fits in the same genre of 5 Seconds of Summer, should be supporting this up-in-coming band and celebrating their unique type of music. Remember people: you never have to justify yourself. Listen to what you want to, wear what you want, ect and don’t let anyone give you shit for it. I’m a huge fan of Hayley (I dyed my hair red in honor of her when I was 15 haha) and 5SOS (kinda a new fan i must admit) but I find her comments wacked.

    • Lucy

But I wouldn’t call her a bully fyi. Just a little shady

  • laura

She looked so much better with her red hair, this just looks like vibrant vomit…
Anyway, who doesn’t know misfits? I don’t think she was bullying them, everyone has that as a pet peeve, it just wasn’t up to her to call him out on that since he probably is a fan of misfits.
If anything she should be applauding him for listening to decent music instead of the shit they’re playing on the radios these days…

    • Tash

I’ve never heard of the misfits until now. Still know nothing about them though. My excuse for everything is just going to be, I’m from South Africa. haha = D

      • laura

Really? You should check them out, they’re pretty good. Not my faves though.
        Hahaha it’s a valid excuse :p

  • BangBang

It’s just a shirt, who cares!

  • live.love.learn.

This is so stupid lmfao stfu and worry about your own shit, Hayley and Bill. Don’t y’all have anything better to do than to police other people’s musical and clothing preferences? Acting like some music elitists lmao take several seats. He probably is a fan..
    I don’t think they’re bullies, just idiots.

  • HolyGround

Hayley is one of my favorite people and paramore is my fave band but its just a shirt lol

  • ugh

If you read it shes defending him more than anything. The first tweet she was stating it was a pet peeve of hers then she goes on to say that he could be their number one fan and who are they to judge. 5sos fans need to calm down…if theres anyone they should be attacking its the guy that initially insulted luke.

    • Tash

People always attack boy bands & teen groups & act like they know nothing about ‘real’ music. I remember when the Jonas Brothers used to list their inspirations & cover a lot of older & not very mainstream music, people used to laugh them off & act as if they couldn’t possibly know anything about that stuff. When it was what the boys predominantly listened to. You can hear it in their music too. But off course haters switched gears & went from ‘they don’t know anything about that’ to ‘they copied that’ from this or that older artist. They will hate you no matter what.

  • Tash

I get where Haley is coming from. I do think she should have gotten her facts together before making an assumption though. You can’t just judge people by factors of age, appearance, where they come from etc. But I do feel that she just touched the surface of a major problem society faces. It’s this ‘wannabe complex’. Sometimes it’s no biggy & it really may just be that you bought something that you liked & there was no further agenda. But what we’re seeing a lot of is people & especially youth, trying to fit an ideal which is often negative. They change the way they dress, walk, talk, act & even think. I don’t know much about these boys so I won’t judge them, especially over a single shirt. But I do feel that by fitting certain stereotypes & trying to fit in with certain groupings of people, it is how our youth become corrupt & go astray. The difficult part is to identify & differentiate those who genuinely have a preference but are not partaking in the negative & stereotypical aspects of people that ‘look’ or ‘act’ a certain way & those who are trying to be the stereotype & fit in with a grouping of people.

  • Duckyhoward15

If they tried to do that with 1d louis and directioners were going to cut them to pieces though hahah

    • lol

but 1d doesnt even compare to paramore…not even by a long shot, one actually makes good and meaningful music and the other is a prettylooking boyband. louis would just look like a gigantic asshole as always and directioners would still be seen like the 11 year olds they are

      • Duckyhoward15

That doesn’t change the fact that they were going to cut them to pieces and hayley is an asshole too not to mention that actually directioners aren’t all 11 years old cos if you think so then you must be 1 or something

        • lol

woww you caught me im a 1 year old. what i mean is that people would be way more behind paramore than 1d. people actually respect paramores music. hayley isnt an asshole where did you hear that lol. ive heard she is a very nice person but we all know louis is an asshole you or no one else can deny that. and most of directioners are like 15 or younger

          • Tash

There is literally only one nice guy in 1D & that’s Harry. Niall is okay but Harry is very friendly. The other 3 are pompous & arrogant. Louis is the worst & can barely sing, which is absurd! Liam recently developed a bad attitude & Zayne hardly says much & when he does open his mouth, it’s attitude. They make it hard to like them. Especially since their music is typical boy band stuff or utter crap.

  • http://zarriall-zombies.tumblr.com FuckHarry

It’s so annoying that one must prove they are a fan in order to wear a damn shirt of a band one likes, like just cause I love 1D doesn’t mean I’m a fake fan of radiohead nirvana sublime ect, news flash people can like many different genres.

  • brittany

He knows who the misfits are she dont know Luke hemmings she shouldn’t of talked about someone she dont know plus dont judge someone until you get know someone

  • threelittlebirds

My band shirts range from t.swift to avenged sevenfold. Doesn’t make me any less of a fan of either band, just means I like a wide range of music.

  • dlovCyr

I knew someone would bitch about the shirt. “Punk” era kids most likely.

  • Marina And My Diamonds

Sucks because I listen to Paramore, have for years and I’ve been told because of my race I’m not allowed to nor should I listen to them.
I’ve even been quizzed because certain people were shocked.
It’s a sucky feeling when you believe you can listen to whatever but others think there is this level you must require before you can be a fan.
“Name 35 songs of theirs and you must have attended at least 2 concerts.” That’s not alright. They’re not bullies just douchebags.
On top of that who’s to say someone didn’t give him the shirt and he just wore it ooorrr HE’S AN ACTUAL FAN.

    • threelittlebirds

People actually said because of your race you’re not allowed to listen them?? That’s so fucking stupid and racist. Someone’s race doesn’t determine what kind of music they should listen to.

      • Marina And My Diamonds

Yes, it’s happened face to face. I love all kinds of bands and artist because that’s the way my mom was/is. Bill’s first comment is all too familiar, I’ve been asked the same mess too many times.

        • laura

What the fuck is wrong with people these days?? It’s 2014, I thought we were over shit like this..
But I feel you, kinda. I am probably your typical white girl but I wear band shirts too and every single time people will tell me how I am not allowed to wear them because apparently I don’t know their songs and I only listen to Disney music and bla bla bla.
          People are so judgmental.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

Someone lit into me for wearing a Nirvana shirt so I feel you. Too many people assuming out their butts. It’s 2014 and those people are blatant to keep ignorance alive 100%.

          • laura

            That’s awful!
Ugh people should be happy we listen to these bands instead of telling us we can’t and are being fake.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

Exactly! When we listen to good music they say we don’t understand but when we listen to this generation of music we need better taste. As my Mother usually says “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.” So forget about them. ;)

          • laura

It’s the eternal struggle of the music loving youth haha
I always liked that saying, still mad we don’t have anything like it in Dutch.

          • O

One of the many reasons why I fear going to concerts.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

            Aww! :( Understandable.

    • Eva

What race are you? If that’s okay to ask.

      • Marina And My Diamonds

        :) Of course. Black.

        • Eva

There is something very wrong with people nowadays. You would think the world has progressed but it hasn’t really. Preconceived ideas are the worst to deal with…. Just keep doing you girl.

          • Marina And My Diamonds

            Thank you!

    • LOL ItsMack

tru ive only been to one concert and and i cant even name 35 off the spot

  • Eva

Why do people feel the need to say such things unsolicited? I mean would it hurt to just shut the fuck up?

  • Fan

i became their fan a while ago & i found them via All Time Low and i was never a fan of One Direction but i have nothing against them, they do what they do.. and i also know ppl who love 5SOS but isn’t a fan of 1D. And if you we’re in band and wanted to get known and you get a chance to tour with the biggest boyband i’m pretty sure you’d take it. And yes there’s a lot of ppl that are fans of both of them.. but is that really a bad thing? You like what music you like, but last time i checked the music is why we like this band not what other bands their fans like.. And 5SOS looks up to bands that i love. so there’s just more reason to love these boys.
But that bandshirt-thing. Have you heard Luke say that he didn’t know anything about Misfits or doesn’t listen to it? Because i haven’t.. please tell me where i can find where he says that.

  • Lol

Really immature/intolerant of them to think that way

  • LOL ItsMack

im in love with the misfits

  • LOL ItsMack

    bruh im lame
