From Megan: As a student at an all girls school lacking a prom date, a famous person seemed like the only way to turn. But not too famous, because when does that ever work out. I stayed up late making a sign in bright red letters and packed it for my cousin’s wedding the next day.
After compiling close to 50 pictures with guests and the bride and groom holding the sign, the video was complete. Then, when singer/songwriter/prom date of choice Jackson Guthy said yes to my proposal way back in December, I knew it was still a long shot (but the yes was pretty cool).
After he had to get his tonsils removed, Jackson had to change his RSVP to a no, but he said yes to something else. Jackson flew my mom, my friend Leah and me out to Los Angeles earlier this week for a three day stay!
Our first day we spent flying across the country, walking around the walk of fame in Hollywood and adjusting to the 3 hour time difference. The next day Leah and I met Jackson and a bunch of his friends (Ray, Lurie, Mozart, Edison and Ethan) at Disneyland and then set off for some rides.
I really was not expecting to go on a lot of rides because I am quite the scaredy cat. But as you can tell from the ridiculous pictures (Space Mountain takes the cake), it only took a little bit of convincing from Jackson to get on some rides!
Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, the Indiana Jones ride, a Toy Story ride, just to name a few. While I held on for dear life and screamed louder than I though possible, I had more fun than you could ever imagine. At dinner we exchanged polaroids and talked about Jackson’s upcoming album. He’s been recording like crazy and was dying to play some songs for Leah and I, but he wasn’t allowed to.
He did show us some photos from his post recent photo-shoot, though! After taking some pictures in my new Minnie Mouse ears, which Jackson surprised me with, it was time to say goodbye. It was awesome to get to hang out with Jackson for basically a whole day and really get to know him!
He is so down to earth and loves to crack jokes (but only some of them are really funn.. sorry Jackson!). My day at Disneyland was definitely an unforgettable day and much more fun than prom would have been!
