Selena Gomez Wants You To Know The Drama Surrounding Her Rise In Hollywood

Selena-Gomez-Lifetime-ShowIt looks like Selena Gomez will be adding another executive producer credit to her name. The singer is working on a scripted television drama inspired by her rise. Today, details about the show were announced at Lifetime’s upfront presentation.

Deadline reports that Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti have also signed on as executive producers. The show follows a young actress as she tries to make it in Hollywood “as seen through the eyes of her friends who quickly become her most trusted inner circle.”

In addition to this project, Selena will serve as the executive producer of two other shows: “13 Reasons Why,” which will stream on Netflix, and a Freeform series that is being described as a “Latina ‘Empire.'”

Will you be tuning in to see the show?

So it’s basically a female entourage? Correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Izzy

A drama is perfect for her. That’s she does is whine and try and make people feel bad for her. Now she has a whole show where she’ll get paid to be a drama queen.

    • sis

Selena is not acting on it. She is just an executive-producer. The show is based on her life just like Entourage is based on Mark Wahlberg’s life

Third show get picked up for a tv channel. Selena Gomez is going places. Thanks to her fans and her haters. Fact is that people are focused on her.

im confuse i thought rising was about her life but sounds to me like the lifetime series is about the same thing if im not mistaken.

      • nah

Rising is about Latin comunity based in that girl Ana Cobarrubias’s life

i hope they cast an unknown and not like the producers of the movie selena did casting jlo for the main part.and she had a couple of movies under her belt.

  • Faith

I wonder how much she’s actually doing? Is she actually producing this or is it part of her never ending learning process? She seems like that dude who got the job 3 weeks ago and still can’t do anything by himself and masks it behind “I’m still new”. No, you’re really not. Let go of my hand and get to work.

she and her mom has a production team. producers and executive producers are the people with the money. basically they create the movie or tv shows.

      • Faith

Ok, so she’s just investing in it. Nothing that requires any creativity or talent or even her showing up to the set just money and connections.

    • ss

Selena is a executive producer, it more likely means she is responsible along with the other executive producers on making the project financially viable putting her own money on its budget or getting sponsors. Her mother is the one really working on production

  • G

Entourage is about partying & hoes. Is her version gonna be about Disneyland & dating a pop singer? Lol or is it gonna be “edgy” with her drinking phase back in 2013

    • ss

she describes as “Entourage meets Girls.” She elaborates, saying the show will center around “what girls deal with, even the perception of religion and things like that, how it affects you, and how impressionable Hollywood is.”
Summing up, a PG-rated female Entourage

      • Deena

I bet she’s going to want these projects to push further than PG. Entourage and Girls were both rated R/MA. Selena is so desperate to prove she’s all grown up. And nothing says grown up like a some ‘edgy’ f bombs, weed references and a little nudity

  • this is what an EP does

“An Executive Producer (EP) is a producer who is not involved in the technical aspects of the filmmaking process, but has played a crucial financial or creative role in ensuring that the project goes into production. Executive Producers must be excellent negotiators. They need a keen business sense, and an intimate knowledge of all aspects of production, financing, marketing and distribution. Executive Producers are responsible for the overall quality control of productions. On some productions the Executive Producer role may be combined with other roles, so that as well as raising the finance they may also be responsible for managing the budget during production. Executive Producers must be able to identify commercial, marketable projects. Executive Producers have overall responsibility for the successful financing and marketing of these projects. During production, Executive Producers may be involved in some aspects of scripting, casting, and crewing. Executive Producers often work on a number of projects simultaneously. They are experienced industry practitioners, who have usually worked previously for a number of years in any one of a variety of roles, such as producer, writer, director or script editor.”
