Die-hard fans love to ship their faves. Despite their breakup, tons of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez fans still believe that Jelena will return and the couple will reunite. But Selenators weren’t invited to a special party on Twitter Tuesday night, and many Beliebers didn’t want to go.
The hashtag #JelenaWillNeverRiseParty trended on Twitter. Users took the chance to celebrate the idea that Justin and Selena will never get back together. It’s hard to tell if this drew the Ariana Grande fans out or if they were in on the ground floor, but Arianators seized the chance to sink the Jelena ship and argue in favor of Jariana. What started the Jariana speculation up again? Turns out the spark came from a couple of Pikachus.
Justin and Ariana both posted fan edits of their faces on Pikachus from the game “Pokémon Go.” Ariana and Justin have both been playing the game, and each shared the Photoshopped photos via their Instagram accounts.
Fans quickly noticed the similarities between the two posts. But even more noteworthy to the Jariana shippers was the fact that the Pikabieber came from another Instagram account that is dedicated to romanticizing the idea of a Justin and Ariana romance.
What exactly are Jariana shippers imagining? Justin and Ariana have never been romantically linked, but that doesn’t stop people from dreaming, especially now that Ariana is single again. Fans love that they support of each other’s music and the two do seem to be good friends. And lots of people still can’t get over how handsy Justin got with Ariana on stage.
When it came to this hashtag, the Jariana shippers pointed out that Jelena does seem unlikely to return. Some Jelena fans took solace when Justin started following Selena on Instagram again in June. But Selena seemed to make it pretty clear how she felt about a romantic reunion with Justin when she destroyed a fan’s sign that read, “Marry Justin Please.”
