Beyoncé, Taylor Swift And Demi Lovato Among The Most Charitable Celebs Of 2016

Beyonce, Taylor Swift And Demi Lovato Named As Most Charitble Celebs Of 2016DoSomething.org’s annual Celebs Gone Good list, which recognizes celebrities for their social change, has been released. The results are decided by a combination of public voting, IMDB’s STARmeter and input from experts in the industry. According to various media outlets, Beyoncé was crowned the most charitable celebrity this year. “Hamilton” creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda came in second just ahead of Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato.

Beyoncé’s latest year-end achievement might not come as a surprise considering how she set the bar for social good all year. She helped fuel the powerful Black Lives Matter movement by speaking out on various occasions and including the Mothers of the Movement—mothers of the black victims of gun violence— in her groundbreaking socially, racially and politically charged visual album, “Lemonade.” She even brought the powerful women as her guests to the 2016 MTV VMAs. Queen Bey also helped the Flint water crisis by raising $82,000 through her #BeyGood campaign.

Taylor’s third place slot is likely due to her $1 million pledge to help the victims of Louisiana’s heartbreaking floods this year. She made donations throughout the year and completed her promise by October. Demi’s fourth place rank is the result of her efforts with mental health awareness, which she plans to continue with the CAST Center. She even announced a break in 2017 to focus on charity, which definitely won’t happen, but she will likely remain a strong advocate for her cause.

Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga both earned spots on the list for their big strides with the LGBTQ community and, surprisingly, Justin Bieber also made the cut. The annual list also includes two separate categories to highlight newer celebrities who are quickly gaining social justice momentum and Internet sensations who are using their platform to promote change.
