Demi Lovato’s “Simply Complicated” documentary has been released and fans of the singer are loving her openness. While promoting the YouTube documentary, Demi made it a point to hype the honesty of the project, specifically as it relates to her cocaine addiction.
“I was so honest in that documentary but I wasn’t honest enough. And I think it was because I wasn’t honest with myself,” Demi told PEOPLE after revealing she was on cocaine for most of the filming of “Stay Strong.” Five years later and Demi once again sat down for another truthful documentary which she says was for both herself and her fans. “And in this documentary, I’m 1000 percent sober and I get to really explain myself and apologize to my fans,” she said.
Since the release of “Simply Complicated,” Lovatics have been loving the singer’s documentary and how far she’s come. “Just finished watching #SimplyComplicated. It takes a lot of courage to be hones and open at this level. And we love you a lot! #ddlovato,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
Already viewed more than one million times since its release on Tuesday, it seems like Demi’s goal of using the documentary as a way to apologize for not always being honest is working.
“Being so honest and open and talking about subjects that I never talked about before is a big part of why I feel relieved,” Demi said.
