Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez And Demi Lovato Snubbed In 2018 GRAMMY Nominations

Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez And Demi Lovato Get Zero GRAMMY Nominations And Twitter Loses It featureThe 2018 GRAMMY Nominations have arrived and Twitter is seething at some notable exclusions. While Ed Sheeran got his expected nods and Kesha snagged a few surprise nominations, fans are outraged that acts like Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus all received no love from the Recording Academy.

And while Justin Bieber will have a chance to walk home with another trophy, not a single former member of One Direction got a nomination despite a year of solo success. Between who was nominated and who wasn’t, Twitter is on fire.

The “Record of the Year” category features no women, but Justin’s feature on “Despacito” is included. Lorde is the only woman to get nominated for “Album of the Year” in a field stacked with JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars and Childish Gambino. “Despacito” is also nominated for “Song of the Year” alongside “4:44,” “That’s What I Like” and other hits.

Alessia Cara received a “SOTY” nod for “1-800-273-8255″ with Logic and a nom for “Best New Artist” alongside Khalid, Lil Uzi Vert, SZA, and Selena Gomez’s BFF Julia Michaels. While the big four categories were destined to be tough for pop acts, the pop categories have become just as controversial.

Kesha, Lady Gaga and Ed are all up for “Best Pop Solo Performance” and “Best Pop Vocal Album,” but they’re not up against pop powerhouses like Demi, Selena or Miley. The three ex-Disney acts received a combined zero nominations despite Demi and Miley’s full-length albums and Selena’s multiple singles.

Similarly shafted were Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times,” Niall Horan’s “Flicker” and singles from Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn. The closest a a 1D alum got to a nod was Zayn, who wasn’t included in the list of writers for “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” in “Best Song Written for Visual Media.”

Zayn’s partner on that song, Taylor Swift, did alright for herself, though. ” I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” and her country revival song “Better Man” written for Little Big Town both got writing noms.

      • thecat61

        I know right!

  • dev__

thanks god they’re not nominated. These are the Grammys not the Kids choice awards.
Congrats to Lorde’s nomination. She deserves to win.

    • thecat61

Wasn’t P!nk, Ed Sheeren, Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Bruno Mars, Khalid, The Weeknd, Kesha, Cold Play, Lorde..all nominated at one point and time for a Kids Choice Award or a Teen Choice Award!?! So this is basically the Kids Choice Awards under another name.

      • dev__

Kids Choice Awards and Teen choice awards are ALL about teen basically. Grammys are not, thanks god.

        • thecat61

Lmao…perhaps you didn’t understand my comment, which doesn’t surprise me at all, the artists I have mentioned who are nominated for a Grammy were also nominated for Teen Choice Awards/Kids Choice Awards and always will be. It’s NOT all about teens.

          See ya around!
