Bella Thorne is working hard to get people to see her new movie “Midnight Sun.” The actress did what many before her have done and rented out an entire theater, offering a “first come first serve” free showing for those who “want a little help getting into the movie.”
Her act was meant to show generosity and kindness, but it’s hard to take it at face value after critics have been busy tearing the film to shreds. US Weekly said it’s “not worthy of your Kleenex,” Variety calls out production error and an overworked script, the AV Club evicerates every single detail and the Detroit Free Press points out the film’s inability to square off with its predecessors—”A Walk To Remember,” “The Fault In Our Stars,” etc.
Unfortunately for those who worked hard on the film, those are just a few reviews picked from a heap of similar criticism. Bella shelling out the big bucks to let fans see the movie for free probably won’t add much to the box office numbers or even general viewership.
Why do you think Bella rented out a theater: legitimate kindness or fear that no one will see the movie?
