Taylor Swift Top 5 Earner '09 $18 Million

Taylor Swift jumped to the number four spot on Forbes magazine's list of estimated top earners in country music for 2009. Selling more than 4 million CDs last year made her the best-selling solo artist of 2008. Article from Yahoo:
Taylor made the list, which the business journal puts together by calculating estimates on grosses, merchandise revenue, album sales, and income from endorsement and licensing deals.
With an estimated take-in of $18 million for '09, she ranks behind only Kenny Chesney ($65 million), Rascal Flatts ($60 million) and Toby Keith ($52 million). What is surprising is the fact that Swift has so quickly crashed through the cowboy hat that is Nashville's version of the proverbial glass ceiling.
Since the average ticket for a country concert cost far less than comparable acts in rock or pop, the genre is a bit less susceptible to sharp declines in its overall popularity. And those endorsement and merchandising deals, which Taylor's only first getting a bronco-busting like handle on, are another reason.
And, barring undue influence of friends like Miley Cyrus, as long as she can keep the diva demons away, Taylor just might just keep reshaping the moneymaking side of country music's good ol' boy network.

JoJo is going to college! Myspace: I'm NOT putting my career on hold, nor my education. I am still working on the album, waiting for Blackground's new deal to get finalized, getting ready to put a new single/video/album out, etc.. and also.. getting ready for college!
IM VERY EXCITED FOR THIS NEW CHALLENGE AND ENDEAVOR..
After much consideration and research, I have decided that Northeastern University is the place for me! In the past week I've taken tours and met with students and professors of other Boston based schools, and now that the time to commit has come, I'm happy with the idea of being a student at Northeastern.
They have a wonderful cultural anthropology program (which is what I am interested in going for) as well as a dual major option in International Affairs/ Anthropology. Im so excited! But as I mentioned in an earlier post, I am not going to put my career on hold, however.
Progress is being made right now in Blackground's legal/contractual negotiations that have been holding up the release of any new music for months now. But I am happy to say that it looks like things are about to (finally) get rolling. Whhhhewwww.!! Since I feel the need to cover all my bases..
I think it is essential and beneficial for me to eventually have a college degree. My long term goal is to gain a doctorate.. but I gotta take it ONE step at a time!! Lol.
