Outrage by some parents over statements about children who need gluten-free diets that were made on the Disney Channel show 'Jessie' has led the company to pull the episode off the air. Disney: 'To our viewers, we received your feedback about tonight's 'Jessie' episode which some of you accessed early on Video-on-Demand.
We are removing this particular episode from our regular programming schedule and will re-evaluate its references to gluten restrictions in the character's diet. Please accept our apologies for the upset this episode caused you and your family. We value your feedback and thank you for watching Disney Channel.'
'Jessie' episode 'Quitting Cold Koala' revolved around a teen nanny who was tasked with taking care of a child named Stuart, who needs a gluten-free diet. Several jokes are made about his condition, including the main character Jessie pointing out that Stuart had a five-page list of his dietary requirements.
'You call me sweetie again, and you'll be eating some gluten-free knuckles.' one character says to Stuart after he gets her a gift. Another gag has a child throwing pancakes at Stuart as he screams 'gluten!' and wipes his face. 'He makes me look macho,' another child who sees the incident, says.
Some viewers who have been personally affected by celiac disease, which requires patients to be treated with a gluten-free diet, were outraged about the show's glibness towards the disorder. 'There were tears in my daughter's eyes, and my son's fist was clenched (when they were watching the episode),' Amy Raslevich told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
'The first year (after diagnosis) was literally like a death. That's the best way for me to describe it. They went through all of the stages of grief. There's nothing else that they can do, and they aren't going to outgrow it. It was tough, and it still is.' Miley Ray Cyrus claims to suffer from a Gluten allergy and/ or Celiac disease.

Disney Channel's follow up to 2003's Oscar-winning smash Finding Nemo will be titled Finding Dory, and focus on the little blue fish voiced by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. The movie, which will be directed by original Nemo co-director Andrew Stanton, will hit theaters on November 25, 2015.
When Dory said 'just keep swimming' in 2003's Oscar®-winning film 'Finding Nemo,' she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish.
Ellen: 'I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I'm not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating 'Toy Story 16.' But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is, it's got a lot more Dory.'
In 'Finding Dory,' she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.' 'Finding Dory' takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory's life.
