Aaron Carter has been dominating headlines since his most recent run-in with the law. Following an arrest for driving under the influence and marijuana possession, the singer took part in a few candid interviews about his battle with substance abuse and an eating disorder. Aaron is now choosing to open up about his sexuality.
In a lengthy open letter shared via social media, the 29-year-old singer came out as bisexual. Aaron explained that his decision to speak up stems from a “weight and burden” he’s felt from keeping it in and that it doesn’t bring him “shame.”
“I grew up in this entertainment industry at a very young age and when I was around 13-years-old I started to find boys and girls attractive,” he writes. “There were years that went by that I thought about it, but it wasn’t until I was 17-years-old, after a few relationships with girls, I had an experience with a male that I had an attraction to who I also worked with and grew up with.”
Aaron continued by saying that music and the studio give him a sense of safety, but his ultimate goal is to be “satisfied.” He added that he never wants to be “a figure of disappointment.”
“The best quote to sum ‘I’ve never felt as though I didn’t belong, I just acted as though I did.’ -Boy George,” Aaron adds.
