CFDA and the Vogue Fashion Fund hosted a special show at the Chateau Marmont on Wednesday. The tea party was a who’s who of fashionable young celebs including Zendaya, Kaia Gerber, Stella Maxwell and Billie Lourd.
Billie Lourd has set her own terms when it comes to speaking publicly about the death of her mother, Carrie Fisher. Carrie’s passing, followed the next day by the death of her own mother, Debbie Reynolds, created two huge holes in Billie’s life. While Carrie and Debbie have both been laid to rest, their spirits linger on for Billie, who opened up about the legacy of her mother and grandmother in a lengthy interview with Town & Country.
The interview, conducted by actress and friend of the family Sarah Paulson, unearthed some of the wildest stories from Billie’s childhood. It had her speaking reflectively about the things she learned from her mom. And she shared her memory of the last time she saw her mom alive.
“The last time I saw her in person, this episode of ‘Scream Queens’ was on, and it was a big episode for me,” Billie recalls. “I had tons of scenes, and I was so hard on myself about it—I hated how I looked, hated my performance. I was really frustrated.” Carrie refused to let Billie be so critical of herself, though.
“She told me, ‘Come over right now. I want to watch this with you.’ And she made me sit down and watch it, and she forced me to see the good parts,” Billie says. “She was incredible like that. But she was really hard on me, saying, ‘Shut up, you’re great in this. Have faith in yourself. Be more confident.'”
Following the death of her mother, Carrie Fisher, Billie Lourd has been named the beneficiary of the late actress’ estate. The house isn’t the only thing Billie has inherited from her mother. She’s also received everything in her bank accounts, a 2016 Tesla S, jewelry, artwork and other valuable collectibles.
Billie will also be inheriting all of the earnings from Carrie’s public image, books, specials, trademarks and copyrights for the foreseeable future. Needless to say, Carrie made sure that her only child would be taken care of after her passing.
Billie is making sense of the inheritance as she reels from her split from actor Taylor Lautner. The actor was a fount of support for Billie in the wake of her mother’s and grandmother’s passing earlier this year The couple ended their relationship after only eight months of dating.
Fans were devastated that the two ended things so early, especially since Billie’s uncle, Todd Fisher, had given Taylor the family stamp of approval.

After the untimely death of both Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, Todd Fisher and his niece Billie Lourd only have each other. Naturally, Todd has become protective of his 24-year-old niece, especially with who she dates.
In an exclusive E! News interview, Todd shared his thoughts on Billie’s love life with former co-star Taylor Lautner. “The truth of the matter is, the guy is pretty spectacular,” he said. “He’s a really deep person, and he has supported her amazingly. He’s stepped up and acted like a husband would act. Not that that’s what’s going on, but it’s just an amazing support system for her, and I’m glad he’s in her life. That’s not easy for me to say, if you think about it!”

Billie Lourd took the stage at “Star Wars Celebration 2017″ to channel her inner Princess Leia. As fans celebrated the 40th anniversary of the original 1977 film, Billie was there to pay a special tribute to her mom, Carrie Fisher. Carrie played iconic role of Princess Leia Organa in the franchise, including in the recent sequel, “The Force Awakens.” Billie was there to share why fans and their conventions meant so much to her mom.
“My mom, like Leia, was never afraid to speak her mind and say things that might’ve made most people uncomfortable, but not me and not you,” Billie began. “That was why she loved you–because you accepted and embraced all of her, the strong soldier of a woman she was and also the vulnerable side of her.”
Billie offered up the three things her mom taught her. First, she recited Leia’s famous “Help me, Obi-wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” speech from the first movie and received a thunderous round of applause for it.
“Secondly, she taught me that if life isn’t funny, it’s just true, and that is unacceptable,” Billie continued. “And, finally, I learned by knowing her that the most evolved person is seemingly a contradiction.”
