Last night, Taylor Swift received the first-ever Taylor Swift Award at the 64th annual BMI Pop Awards. In BMI’s entire history, an award named after the artist it was given to has been handed out only one other time — Michael Jackson in 1990.
“If they had chosen someone else to give the Taylor Swift Award to, I’d be kind of bummed about it,” Taylor said in her acceptance speech.
Taylor also won the “Pop Songwriter of the Year” award for the second year in a row, thanks in part to songs “Bad Blood,” “Blank Space,” “Style” and “Wildest Dreams.”
