Lauren Jauregui loves using Twitter to sound off. Even after some poorly timed tweets about Jill Stein had her looking foolish, the Fifth Harmony singer has barely slowed down when it comes to talking politics on the platform. She’s been known to address serious issues like the Philando Castile verdict and taking aim at President Donald Trump’s tweet.
She’s also a proud member of the LGBTQ community as a bisexual woman, and she spends plenty of time trying to be an advocate for other LGBTQ people. She’s at it again now, and she’s taking aim at one of the most popular religions on the planet in the process. Lauren tweeted about the hypocrisy she’s tired of hearing from Catholics.
“I’m gonna need Catholics to stop preaching anti-gay sentiment with the amount of rampant pedophilia going on behind the scenes for years,” Lauren wrote in a controversial post. She went back-and-forth with other users as they questioned her about that statement.
She talked about her own Catholic upbringing and slammed the church for doing “nothing” about the epidemic of sexual assault cases involving priests and children. She claimed that basically equates to condoning the behavior.
Calling out something as broad as “Catholics” is bound to ruffle a few feathers. But at least calling out the hypocrisies of the church’s compromised morality makes more sense that Miley Cyrus praising a Pope who has some interesting thoughts about “gender ideologies.”
