Earlier today, Charli XCX shared some behind-the-scenes footage that showed what went into the shooting of her “1999” video with Troye Sivan. For a music video that features so many costume changes — and so many racy costumes — the BTS recording spends a lot of its time showing Charli and Troye getting into, and out of, their various outfits.
But it also shows a lot of the green-screen stage techniques that were used to create the special visual effects in the final video. So some of the secrets behind Charli and Troye’s Matrix-like moves in the official video are revealed.
In the end, even though it appears that Charli was sick throughout the shoot, her good humor, as well as the warmth of her friendship with Troye, make this BTS short pretty enjoyable to watch. And her many costume changes don’t hurt, either …
