Bella Hadid was very bitter when the word broke that her ex, The Weeknd, was being spotted with Selena Gomez. While that couple is still going strong, a source close to Bella says the model is over it. That source is her mother, Yolanda Hadid, who faced some rapid fire question from “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen regarding her daughter’s love life.
Halsey kicked off her “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour” in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday night. The singer sold out the 12,000-seat Mohegan Sun Arena on her birthday. It seemed like Halsey could hardly wait to take the stage as she tweeted her excitement about opening night. Afterwards, she announced the sell-out on Twitter and promised a rant that never came.
Kylie Jenner has been accused of cultural appropriation plenty of times, but the latest social media allegations against Kylie are perhaps a little more serious. Instead of claiming she’s cherry picking her favorite parts of black culture for use in her clothing line or her street style, Twitter users are accusing Kylie of trying too hard to be Rihanna.
The accusations started when candids of Kylie in a bob wig with her hand over her face started confusing some users. The hair cut and outfit were enough to trick some into thinking they were looking at a pic of Rihanna. Sleuths studied the pic closely until some distinctive lips and a missing hand tattoo clued them in that it was actually a very tan Kylie.
Users reacted to the news with shock. Debate raged in replies about whether the pics were of Kylie or of Rihanna. But any doubts that Kylie is studying Rihanna’s style and following her trends was put to rest as the controversy brought out the historians.
In a new announcement shared Monday, the U.K.’s Official Charts service announced sweeping changes to how artists and songs qualify for chart positions. According to the new rules, any individual artist can have no more than three songs in the Official Singles Chart Top 100. The move comes in response to streaming services’ influence on music consumption and to help lesser known acts find a way onto the charts.
The Official Charts cited Little Mix, Drake, The Chainsmokers, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Stormzy as examples of artists who wouldn’t have had as much chart success if the new rules had always been in place. But the worst offender being busted is Ed Sheeran, who saw all 16 songs from his latest album in the top 20 when it dropped.
Official Charts claims that music streaming has doubled in the last year alone and is still surging at 1.2 billion streams a week being counted for chart purposes. Counting each play, even as a fraction of a sale, means that repeated listens on streaming services can boost chart position in a way repeated listens on physical copies never could.
Justin Bieber is fangirling hardcore over Drake. He recently posted a picture of Drake on instagram calling him “More than a rapper, a culture shifter and legend.. best of our generation.” Drake has yet to comment on Justin gushing about him, but Justin’s fans certainly did.
