Camila Cabello stopped by “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” on Thursday to discuss her upcoming solo album. During the interview, the singer revealed why her recorded version of “Closer” by The Chainsmokers is not the version fans of the song are used to.
“I loved the song, but I had to turn it down ’cause I was with the group at the time and we were about to put an album out,” Camila revealed. Although The Chainsmokers were interested in collaborating with Camila, the group moved on to Halsey.
“I always tried to do my solo stuff off cycle, so that was like super on and so I had to say no,” Camila explained. With a bit of regret she added, “And then it was like the number-one song in the world.” The song was more than just number one, it ended up being nominated for a Grammy Award as well as winning a few Billboard Music Awards.
