Selena Gomez held a Twitter listening party on Monday that included a Q&A with fans and inquiries spanning her spirit animal and the craziest rumors she’s heard about herself.
During the fan exchanges, the singer admitted that she dreams to work with Detroit rapper Eminem. Selena may have a chance at working with the rapper, since he’s worked with pop stars like Sia and Rihanna, but he’s never strayed too far from the hip-hop world when it comes to collaborations.

Ed Sheeran is getting a biopic about his life and career. The 26-year-old singer/songwriter recently confessed that there’s a movie about him in the works, and he knows what he wants it to feel like. He’s drawing inspiration from Eminem’s gritty film about his life in Detroit, “8 Mile.”
“I want to have an ‘8 Mile’ moment but ‘8 Mile’ meets ‘Notting Hill’,” he said in a recent interview. It’ll be a hard contrast to stitch together as Eminem’s upbringing north of Detroit was very different from anything that happened in the Hugh Grant/Julia Roberts rom-com he mentioned.
“Not gritty like Detroit but, like, Ipswich,” Ed continued, referring to his idyllic hometown northeast of London. Ed knows how different his upbringing was from Eminem’s, even if his “Shape of You” video might not make it seem like it.
“I’ve got loads of songs about Ipswich that haven’t come out so I could make a soundtrack,” Ed added, doubling down on some comments he made in another interview earlier this year.
Ed Sheeran sat down to chat with the BBC about his early career, his writing process and what an awkward kid he was. Ed shared the moment in his life when he knew music was his path forward: hearing Eric Clapton play “Layla” for the Queen of England’s Golden Jubilee.
“That day I said, ‘I want to be a musician. I want to play guitar,'” Ed shared. “I got a guitar for Christmas and that was the first song I learned.” The BBC called it “a rather unusual source” for Ed’s music to spring from despite the bevy of English singer-songwriters inspired by Clapton.
Ed does have a habit of setting himself apart from the crowd, though. As he found himself blending into the singer-songwriter scene, he decided he’d be more a novelty with a different crowd: London’s hip-hop community.
Shawn Mendes stopped by Capital FM for a quick game of “Instaoke.” He attempted songs by Zayn Malik, Eminem and Rihanna. Shawn apparently hasn’t heard Zayn’s debut single “Pillowtalk,” because he seemed to be making up his own lyrics. The Canadian then tried to get a little street cred rapping along to “The Real Slim Shady.”
