Normani Kordei survived another week on “Dancing With The Stars,” even after a shocking elimination. Normani’s solo routine with partner Val Chmerkovskiy to the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up” was nearly perfect again, just two points short of a perfect 40. But those high scores might not offer the same reassurances they once did. That’s because Heather Morris got the boot on Monday night–despite scoring a perfect 40 for her dance.
“By Heather going home it shows that it’s super unpredictable and it comes down to the fans voting,” Normani said in an interview after. “I was really nervous, especially because I was in jeopardy last week.”
Normani’s routine for the “Girl Groups Vs. Boy Bands” episode had her revisiting the vibes of the “Work From Home” music video. She was joined by Val and a couple more construction workers for the performance, which saw her getting flipped up in the air and landing in the splits. It was another fan favorite that earned high marks, but one judge thought the routine didn’t have enough traditional salsa style in it.
Normani came into the show confident that she could top her “Mulan” routine. But after the surprise elimination of Heather and her partner, Val’s brother Maks Chmerkovskiy, she looked a little shook up in a post-show interview.
