Taylor Swift may reign supreme on worldwide charts this week following the release of her record-breaking sixth studio album, “Reputation,” but she can’t hold a candle to another music superstar. In fact, Taylor got booted by a more ferocious diva from the top spot of Forbes’ ranking of the highest-paid women in music.
Forbes has announced the 2018 class of young visionaries and game-changers known as the “30 Under 30.” Actress and social activist Yara Shahidi had the honor of being recognized in the Hollywood & Entertainment category along with Hailee Steinfeld. Joe Jonas is also a part of the 2018 class, following in the footsteps of “30 Under 30″ alum Nick Jonas.
The Korean invasion is in full effect. K-pop’s most famous boy band, BTS, is poised for a U.S. takeover thanks to an up-coming performance at the 2017 American Music Awards. But the award show spot isn’t the only chance the seven-member group will have to make a splash on American TV.
Forbes has dropped its list of the 100 highest earning celebrities in the last year. With $44 million, she clocked in at number 49 without a mega tour to propel her upward. But a familiar name is ahead of her by a few places; her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris out-earned her by $4.5 million. Taylor Swift has been named the highest-paid woman in music of 2016. The singer takes the top of Forbes’ annual list, knocking Katy Perry out of her $135 million first place spot from last year. Taylor more than doubled her $80 million earnings from last year by raking in $170 million. In July, Taylor Swift was crowned as the highest-paid global celebrity of 2016, which takes away some of the shock value from Forbes’ latest findings.
Adele snagged the second spot on this year’s list with less than half of Taylor’s earnings at $80.5 million. Rihanna pulled in $75 million to take fourth while Beyoncé takes her $54 million to fifth.
Where does Katy rank, you might ask? She falls behind Bey at sixth with $41 million, just about half of Taylor’s second place earnings from last year.
