Taylor Swift’s highly-anticipated concert at the Formula 1 Grand Prix brought sniffles and a lot of Saturday night shade. The singer announced a tissue break to the crowd as she has been suffering through a bit of a cold. “I promise it will sound 40% better if I do this,” she says before blowing her nose. More notable than Taylor’s on-stage snot rag was her performance of “This Is What You Came For,” which she wrote for her ex Calvin Harris and Rihanna.
Taylor sat down at the piano and began playing the familiar tune.”As a songwriter, the most rewarding feeling in the world is writing something and then having a crowd sing it back to you because they know the words,” she says. “I’ve never played this song live before, but if you know it, maybe you could sing along and then I could get to know what it feels like to have it sung back to me.”
Her words and their delivery sounded like a not-so subtle dig, especially after Calvin didn’t thank her during his VMA acceptance speech. If that wasn’t enough, Taylor went on to mash-up “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with “Bad Blood” for a powerful performance that came off as a message.
