Adele’s comeback single, “Hello,” continues to increase dramatically in listens and video views. According to a YouTube blog post, the music video gained 50 million views within the first 48 hours of its release last Friday. It’s now the biggest music video debut of 2015 and one of the most-watched debuts ever.
The video has since crossed the 100 million view mark as of earlier today. That makes “Hello” one of only three videos to ever cross 100 million views in its first week alone. The other two videos are PSY’s “Gentleman,” which took only three days, and Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball,” which took six days.
Miley is just the latest singer to have her viewing records crushed by the British artist. Adele has managed to snatch Taylor Swift’s Vevo record within 24 hours of releasing “Hello.”
YouTube also notes that at its peak, the music video debut was gaining at least “1.6 million views in a single hour.”
The other big release on Friday, Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” dance video, got a paltry 20 million views in its first 24 hours.
