Halsey Goes On The Defense After Apologizing For Quavo’s Homophobic Past

Halsey defends statements about Quavo-1Halsey was a very busy woman late Thursday night after allegedly defending rapper Quavo’s homophobic past to The Guardian. Soon after the interview was released, the singer, who identifies as queer, took to Twitter to defend her comments to some furious fans.

“I think he’s misunderstood,” Halsey originally told The Guardian. “Just because I choose to be a socially conscious artist, and I’m pretty good at it, that doesn’t mean every artist is going to be equipped to be politically correct.” As you can imagine, Halsey’s fanbase was not very accepting of the singer’s justification of Quavo and his feelings towards the LGBTQ community.

Things went from bad to worse for Halsey when she then claimed that the Migos rapper isn’t really homophobic. “I think he’s in a tough place of trying to explain what he means. I agree his apology was bullshit but I can’t police everybody,” she said. The singer apologized for her statements via a series of tweets explaining her relationship with the rapper and her true intentions.

Halsey Celebrates Her First Number-One Album Before The Numbers Are Confirmed

Halsey is headed to number oneHalsey released her sophomore album last Friday and the singer is already celebrating her impending number-one album days before the official charts are released. Billboard reports that Halsey’s “hopeless fountain kingdom” is on track to take the top spot if the album earns the 110,000 equivalent album units expected.

This will be Halsey’s first number-one debut and the singer is already enjoying the moment. On Wednesday night, Halsey shared a photo to her Instagram with Cashmere Cat and Benny Blanco both of whom helped produce “Now or Never.” “NUMBA 1 BABY,” Halsey captioned the photo.

The Billboard 200 chart will be released on Sunday, June 11, so there’s still a chance that Halsey’s number-one spot could be taken by one of the many artists who released albums on the same day.

Is Lauren Jauregui Getting In The Ring With Halsey For A “Strangers” Music Video?

Is Lauren Jauregui Getting In The Ring With Halsey For A Strangers Music Video featureLauren Jauregui and Halsey’s collaboration, “Strangers,” debuted at number 100 on Billboard’s Hot 100. The track is helping Halsey push her new album, “hopeless fountain kingdom,” as one of only a few tracks with a featured artist.

When she dropped the song in the week ahead of her full release, Halsey used a short video to hype the track. She wrote in an Instagram caption that it was “not a music video” but she’s been very talkative about the visuals for her new record.

Whether the song hits or flops remains to be seen, but the promotion behind it has some wondering if Halsey is still sitting on a full-length visual for the bisexual love song. After a false alarm that had fans thinking the video would come out with the album, hopes are being rekindled thanks to the track’s featured artist.

Lauren dumped some gasoline on the flames of speculation Tuesday when she shared three stills of herself wearing the same boxing gloves she had on in Halsey’s clip. The striking black-and-white pics have Lauren putting her dukes up like she’s ready to fight.
