Cara Delevingne has been putting in the work to move from the modeling world to Hollywood. But her summer blockbuster “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” hasn’t been quite the breakthrough hit–unless your name is Rihanna. Cara has staked a lot on her star turn in the film, now including her musical debut, making her officially a model/actress/singer.
The track is a jazzy, bluesy song and it might have more digital production than the sci-fi epic film does. Cara’s voice is smooth and full of emotion as she sounds like a lounge singer that has a row of backup dancers who are all her genetic clones. A smattering of video-game soundtrack horns keep the Pharrell Williams-produced track from taking itself too seriously.
Cara teased the song earlier this month. She’s never publicized her musical skills before, but she does hang out with a lot of musicians. Cara has been known to roll with Taylor Swift and her squad and she used to date alt-pop sweetheart St. Vincent.
