Earlier today, Kylie Jenner’s cover story with Interview magazine was released. It’s not even a full day later, and she is receiving backlash.
In two of the photos, Kylie is seen posing in a wheelchair. These pictures have sparked controversy with many who are disabled and find them offensive. “Someone should tell Kylie that a wheelchair isn’t a fashion statement; it’s some people’s reality,” tweeted Feminism Vibes.
Interview magazine defended its decision to feature Kylie in a wheelchair, telling E! News, “At Interview, we are proud of our tradition of working with great artists and empowering them to realize their distinct and often bold visions.”
Interview went on to say it was “placing Kylie in a variety of positions of power and control and exploring her image as an object of vast media scrutiny.”
Kylie has not responded yet.

Kylie Jenner is the cover star for Interview Magazine’s December/Januray issue. The interviewer describes Kylie as “almost sex-doll sanguine,” which might explain the NSFW, dominatrix-inspired photo shoot that accompanies the article. In the photos, Kylie is covered in latex, wears a variety of wigs and poses in some compromising positions.
She explains that she switches up her style as a way to find herself, but there isn’t anything she’d change. “What I think is so amazing about having everything, and feeling like I have everything… I don’t really find happiness within materialistic things,” and she continues, “So if I were to wish for something else, it would just to be happy all the time, to have a superpower of not letting things affect me, and to be true to who I am, always.” Later, she admits she tries to avoid comments on social media posts because she struggles with anxiety about her image.
In the full interview, Kylie also discusses that she hates makeup, the inspiration behind her #IAmMoreThan campaign, the pressure from her social media followers and whether or not she’s going to college.
