Variety magazine has reported that Netflix is in final negotiations for a miniseries based off of Jay Asher’s 2007 young adult novel, “Thirteen Reasons Why.” Singer Selena Gomez will be an executive producer on the 13-episode series.
The book, which tells the tale of one teenager’s 13 reasons for committing suicide and how her classmates contributed to her decision, has been on the New York Times best seller list for eight straight years. The story caught the attention of Selena, who along with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and producer Kristel Laiblin, signed on to co-produce a screen adaptation with Anonymous Content.
This will not be Selena’s first time behind the cameras, having earned executive producer credit on the TV movie, “Wizards of Waverly Place: Alex vs. Alex,” from her hit Disney show.
The show does not have a release date or cast yet.
