Ed Sheeran’s cameo on “Game of Thrones” continues to be a topic of conversation. Ed deactivated and reactivated his Twitter account after hate from the show’s fans flooded his mentions. But now a source close to the show is speaking out in his defense.
Jeremy Podeswa, who directed Ed’s episode in addition to a half dozen others, spoke with Newsweek about working with Ed and why he thinks there’s been so much talk about Ed’s brief appearance.
“I think Ed did a lovely job—he’s a lovely actor and a lovely person,” Jeremy said on Tuesday. “He was appropriate for the part because he needed to sing. If people didn’t know who Ed was, they wouldn’t have thought about it twice. The hoo-ha seems to be from things that are outside of the world of the show. In the world of the show he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world.” So why does Jeremy think there’s been such a big dust up over the cameo?
