A Desperate Katy Perry Seems Chained To Her Latest Single

Katy Perry Is Chained To This Single With Another Chained To The Rhythm Remix featureKaty Perry is pushing another remix of her latest single. After the first one featuring Lil Yachty dropped earlier this week, Katy’s latest update to the song is an uptempo club version. At first, it really sounds like someone just turned up the speed settings on the music video on YouTube.

It’s not until the chorus that the remix starts to find its own space. With some dissonant keyboard blasts, the song builds to a big bass drop on the back half before giving people a chance to work it out if they feel like dancing. Katy tweeted that the new version is for all her club kids getting ready for the weekend.

Katy Perry Cuts Skip Marley Loose For A “Chained To The Rhythm” Remix Featuring Lil Yachty

Katy Perry Cuts Skip Marley Loose For A Chained To The Rhythm Remix Featuring Lil YachtyKaty Perry’s new single is getting a makeover. “Chained To The Rhythm” dropped last month and was quickly followed up by a music video and a couple of live performances. Now, the track has a brand new remix that swaps out Skip Marley’s featured verse for some bars from Lil Yachty.

The unexpected duo teamed up for a much more low-key version of the track with a lot of Autotune for Lil Yachty’s parts. Full of ethereal atmosphere and long, slow echoes, the remix doesn’t technically slow down “Chained To The Rhythm,” but it does feel a little bit fatigued.

Katy Perry Admits She Tried To “Pray The Gay Away” At HRC Gala

Human Rights Campaign Gala 2017Katy Perry was honored at the Human Rights Campaign gala on Saturday night and received the National Equality Award. The singer was brought on stage by her best friend and actress Shannon Woodward who the singer revealed taught her the true meaning of the word “feminist.”

During her acceptance speech, Katy revealed that kissing girls wasn’t the only thing she did. “I speak my truths and I paint my fantasies into these little bite-size pop songs,” she said while accepting the award for her LGBTQ activism. “For instance, ‘I kissed a girl and I liked it.’ Truth be told, I did more than that.”

Katy went on to reveal that because of her religiously strict household, her sexuality was an issue that she constantly struggled with. She even went as far as trying to “pray the gay away” because of her upbringing. “How was I going to reconcile that with a gospel-singing girl raised in youth groups that were pro-conversion camps?” she told the audience.
