Sunday night the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards is blasting off live from the Forum in Inglewood, California. The show, hosted by Katy Perry, will celebrate the best in visuals for the music industry. In a new announcement shared Monday, the U.K.’s Official Charts service announced sweeping changes to how artists and songs qualify for chart positions. According to the new rules, any individual artist can have no more than three songs in the Official Singles Chart Top 100. The move comes in response to streaming services’ influence on music consumption and to help lesser known acts find a way onto the charts.
The Official Charts cited Little Mix, Drake, The Chainsmokers, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Stormzy as examples of artists who wouldn’t have had as much chart success if the new rules had always been in place. But the worst offender being busted is Ed Sheeran, who saw all 16 songs from his latest album in the top 20 when it dropped.
Official Charts claims that music streaming has doubled in the last year alone and is still surging at 1.2 billion streams a week being counted for chart purposes. Counting each play, even as a fraction of a sale, means that repeated listens on streaming services can boost chart position in a way repeated listens on physical copies never could.
Justin was watching the Los Angeles Clippers take on the Utah Jazz in the NBA Playoffs. The game in L.A. brought out some stars, including Justin. He was spotted in the stands breaking it down to Kendrick’s song without a care in the world. Justin even tried to get some other basketball fans in on the fun, but no one was having it. Looks like making a scene in a crowded stadium isn’t everyone’s “Purpose.”
Something about the NBA playoffs seems to strip celebs of their modesty. Kylie Jenner was just spotted at a Houston Rockets game getting close with Travis Scott. Not all the celebs are so bold, though. Kendrick was actually at the same game as Justin, sitting courtside; keyword: sitting.

Frank Ocean is hitting back at some of the top dogs at the GRAMMYs. In a post on his Tumblr account, Frank called out producer Ken Ehrlich and wrtier David Wild for calling his 2013 performance at the awards show “faulty.” He went on to explain the real fault that stopped him from getting involved in the 2017 GRAMMYs: Taylor Swift’s 2016 Album of the Year win.
