Kesha Breaks Down In Tears While Performing New Music For The First Time

Kesha breaks down in tears during Woman performanceKesha got emotional while on stage earlier this week while performing her power anthem “Woman” for the first time. Before getting into the single, Kesha told the crowd that she hadn’t rehearsed the song before the Iowa performance.

“This could suck really, really bad,” Kesha said. She went ahead with the song, backed up by the Creepies and it quickly became too much. Being able to finally perform new music for her fans caused the singer to break down on stage, but she was met with full support from the crowd. “I just wanna say thank you, guys,” she said before drying the tears from her eyes.

Kesha Drops Her Empowering Anthem “Woman” With An Essay About Happiness

Kesha Drops Her Empowering Anthem Woman With An Essay About Happiness featureKesha has dropped another song and this one’s for the girls. Following her return to music with an emotionally charged piano ballad, Kesha is a bit more uptempo on her latest track. “Woman” features The Dap-Kings Horns of Sharon Jones fame and a whole lot of the f-word. Despite the song’s upbeat, take-no-prisoners mentality, Kesha penned an emotional essay that came out in Teen Vogue alongside the track. The piece was a reflection from Kesha on overcoming her eating disorder.

“I know from personal experience how comments can mess up somebody’s self-confidence and sense of self-worth,” Kesha wrote in the essay. Even though she’s not supposed to talk about the Dr. Luke situation, this was one of the allegations she made against him. She quickly shifted the focus to random online haters, though. “I have felt so unlovable after reading cruel words written by strangers who don’t know a thing about me.”

“Seeing paparazzi photos of myself and the accompanying catty commentary fueled my eating disorder,” she continued. “The sick irony was that when I was at some of the lowest points in my life, I kept hearing how much better I looked. I knew I was destroying my body with my eating disorder, but the message I was getting was that I was doing great.”

Kesha Resurrects Her Music Career With “Praying”

Kesha Returns To Music Like Jesus From The Grave With Praying featureAfter a drawn-out legal battle that saw several twists and turns, Kesha has finally returned to music. While she didn’t get her way in her case against alleged sexual assailant Dr. Luke, it looks like Kesha is ready to try the case in the court of public opinion.

“Praying” is the first track from of her new album, “Rainbow.” The piano ballad is a confessional full of her hopes for Dr. Luke now. Kesha sings to someone who “put me through hell,” saying she hopes whoever it is is praying and that his “soul is changing.” Kesha wrote about the new track and her journey at length in a new Lenny Letter.

“I have channeled my feelings of severe hopelessness and depression, I’ve overcome obstacles, and I have found strength in myself even when it felt out of reach,” she writes. “This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you.”

An official video dropped simultaneously with the track. It’s full of Kesha in evocative situations like fighting off pig men in a bed, being stranded at sea and praying at a few colorful altars. At the end, she goes full-on Christ-like as she heads towards a rainbow in the distance.
