A new English course at the University of Texas at Arlington is offering students the chance to closely study Beyoncé’s work, specifically the groundbreaking visual album “Lemonade.” The course is called “Black Women, Beyoncé & Popular Culture” and it will analyze Bey’s latest album as it relates to black feminism.

On Sunday, many people celebrated the (unofficial) national holiday known as Beyoncé’s birthday. They also had another reason to celebrate. As a treat to her many fans, Beyoncé released the music video for her second single “Hold Up” to YouTube.
Hearing the singer’s album has been difficult for anyone who doesn’t subscribe to Tidal. Luckily, Beyoncé released two songs to her Vevo account since “Lemonade’s” April release.

If you were one of the many people trying to figure out who Beyoncé was referring to as “Becky with the good hair” in her single “Sorry,” don’t waste your time. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, “Sorry” co-writer Diana Gordon, previously known as Wynter Gordon, told the publication that the lyric wasn’t about a specific person.
If Beyoncé has anything to say about it, the lawsuit against her visual album “Lemonade” is about to be tossed out. Shortly after the singer released the groundbreaking anthology, short film director Matthew Fulks filed a lawsuit citing copyright infringement. Fans noted many similarities between Matthew’s short film “Palinoia” and Beyoncé’s “Lemonade,” but most doubted that the singer knowingly plagiarized his work.
It just isn’t a good week for music artists. Within hours of each other, reports began of Rihanna, Jay Z and Ed Sheeran all being sued. Now, Beyoncé can be added to the list. TMZ was the first to report that she is being sued by Matthew Fulks after he accused the singer of ripping off his 2014 short film, “Palinoia.”
