Rihanna Upstages Her Co-Stars And Kendall Jenner At “Valerian” Black Carpet Premiere

Just Like In The Movie! Rihanna Upstages Her Co-Stars And Kendall Jenner At Valerian Black Carpet Premiere featureIt had to happen eventually. “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” is finally coming to theaters. The film, which has been generating headlines since 2015, got its Los Angeles premiere on Monday complete with a black carpet for stars to walk. The event comes just days ahead of the film’s theatrical release on July 21, giving the stars a chance to hype the new movie and show off their style.

Rihanna has been getting almost every piece of praise any critic has shared for the movie. She showed off her show-stealing abilities again as she took over the black carpet in an all-pink ensemble that looked as much baby doll as it did bad gal. Fans were literally chanting her name when she arrived at the event. Maybe that’s why Rih seemed to get a little bored inside and was posting to her Instagram story from the theater.

Rihanna’s star power didn’t appear to be a surprise to Cara Delevingne, one of the movie’s actual lead characters. Despite Rihanna dominating the reviews and the black carpet, Cara did her best to bring her shine to the premiere. In a skin-tight futuristic dress, Cara slicked her hair over like an old-school starlet to contrast with her high-tech look.

Critics Agree Rihanna Is The Best Part Of “Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets”

Critics Agree: Rihanna Is Hands Down The Best Part Of Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets featureFilm critics finally got a chance to see Cara Delevingne’s new star turn as Laureline in “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” But the reviews don’t have much to say about Cara or the movie itself. Instead, all anyone can talk about is Rihanna’s brief cameo as a shapeshifting alien cabaret dancer slave. Her short time on screen in the film was enough to earn her rave reviews.

“Where the juvenile scripting is at its peak is in this Rihanna-centric interlude that takes a nonsensical 10-ish minute break from the plot to sexualize the pop star before dismissing her character entirely,” writes Kevin Fallon for the Daily Beast. “I’m not mad. It is the greatest 10 minutes of cinema this entire summer. It’s roughly 80 minutes into this acid trip that Rihanna finally arrives, and it will be roughly 80 years before I stop talking about her performance.”

Cara Delevingne Wanted To Be Thrown Off A Building While Filming “Valerian”

Cara Delevingne Wanted To Be Thrown Off A Building While Filming Valerian featureCara Delevingne is the cover star of the May issue of V Magazine. The actress is splitting duties with her “Valerian” co-star Dane DeHaan in a sci-fi inspired photo shoot while the duo discusses the movies. In a preview of the feature, V shared some quotes from Cara about the demanding audition process and wanting to do her own stunts.

“When I hear that there’s an option that I can do it instead of a stunt person, I’m always like, ‘Please let me do it! Throw me off the building, I like that,’” she shares. Her on-set fervor for stunt work made her a natural fit for a project she knew nothing about when she was first contacted by director Luc Besson. According to Cara, she had no idea what she was getting herself into.

“I didn’t know we were meeting about this movie,” she explains. “Even my agents didn’t know it was for this, and it was clear this was a top-secret project.” Cara and Luc grabbed a bit to eat and she remembers, “It was clear he’d been trying to do this for so long and it was a passion project.” Dane backed her up on that, saying the film will be “purely Luc’s vision,” not “a movie made by a committee” like “Spider-Man.”

In order to be a part of that vision, Cara had to work really hard in her audition. She shared what the process was like, saying: “I had to prove myself, but not in a typical audition setting. Luc would say stuff like, ‘Make up a story in your head and describe it to me using no real words, just physicality and random sounds you make up.’ Or, ‘Think of an animal and act it out and I have to guess what animal it is.'”

Any guess on which animal Cara might’ve picked?
