When a three-year-old picture of Rihanna sitting next to Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o started making the rounds on Twitter last month, it was just a laugh. A fan had tweeted that the pic looked like a scene from a buddy movie starring the two as scammers who preyed on “rich white men.”
Rihanna and Lupita both got on board with the idea, as did Oscar-nominated director Ava DuVernay and writer Issa Rae. Now, that dream team has apparently found a production company to get behind it.
That report says that Issa is already drafting a script and intends to give credit to the original tweeter. It looks like shooting for the film will start in 2018 after Ava completes her current film.
