Harry Styles is putting his money where his mouth is when it comes to advocating for the LGBTQ community. The singer, who has refused to label his own sexuality, is apparently eager to make his upcoming “Sign of the Times Tour” a safe and friendly space for his fans from under the rainbow. To help him make that happen, Harry’s recruited Muna as an opening act.
The Los Angeles band all identify as queer and make a point of never using gendered pronouns like “he” or “she” in pop love songs. The band members, Naomi McPherson, Katie Gavin and Josette Maskin, also reportedly insist on having gender-neutral bathrooms at shows they play. And the band’s fans love them for it.
The group have also been vocal opponents of President Donald Trump. Muna made headlines after Katie, the group’s lead singer, made some changes to a song for a live performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Harry tweeted his announcement regarding Muna, and the band got a big boost in traffic on its Twitter account. “Oh hi there, world,” the band wrote in a tweet following Harry’s “Nice to meet you.” The group has already started reaching out to Harry’s U.K. fans with its political agenda, as well.
