Listen to Lauren Jauregui’s Latest Single “More Than That”

Lauren Jauregui More Than ThatEarlier today, Lauren Jauregui dropped her latest offering as a solo artist, “More Than That.” In an act of interesting timing, Lauren released the R&B-influenced single on the same day as her former Fifth Harmony bandmate Normani dropped her own R&B collab with UK singer Sam Smith. Lauren’s song, by comparison, is a little less retro, and a little more straightforward contemporary R&B.

Lauren’s song seems to have performed well on iTunes during its first day out, though not as well as Normani’s song. “More Than That” cracked the top 20 on the worldwide iTunes song chart peaking at No. 14, while Normani’s “Dancing with a Stranger” remained at the No.1 position throughout the day. Of course, Sam Smith’s name recognition and fanbase probably did a lot to help “Dancing with a Stranger” with its strong first day launch.

Lauren’s song, however, did pick up quite a few rave reviews from music critics. Rolling Stone called the song “intoxicating” and “assertive,” while MTV.com described “More Than That” as a “swaggering, hypnotic flex.”

Sam Smith and Normani Release their Catchy Collab “Dancing with a Stranger” … Which Debuts at No.1 on iTunes

Normani Dancing with a StrangerToday, Sam Smith and Normani released their new collaboration “Dancing with a Stranger.” The song apparently came about by pure chance. Sam Smith was doing some compositional work at a commercial studio when Normani rented a space nearby at the same studio to work on a recording. The two bumped into each other in a hallway at the studio.

In the conversation that followed, the British multi-Grammy winner mentioned he was a big fan of Normani’s work. And that seems to be all that it took for a pop collab to happen …

In terms of its sound, the single gives off classic Nineties-style pop-R&B vibes — which seems to be a vocal sweet-spot for both singers. The track debuted at No.1 on iTunes earlier this morning. So it seems like people are at least initially enjoying those Nineties-style vibes.

You can listen to the new song below.   Continue Reading →

Normani Graces the Cover of ‘Billboard Magazine:’ Will 2019 Finally Be Her Break Out Year as a Solo Artist?

Normani Feature 1Normani is the cover subject for the January 12th issue of Billboard Magazine. In the issue’s cover story, Billboard hypes the “Love Lies” singer as the next big solo artist of her generation and also as an important role model for young girls of color.

We have snaps of Normani’s cover and several of the best shots from her pictorial in a gallery below.

For much of the cover article, Normani still seems haunted by her experiences with Fifth Harmony, even if she is doing her best to put the past behind her.  But the memories clearly still sting. Speaking about her time with the group, she tells Continue Reading →
