Liam Payne Has Been Working With PharrellLiam Payne has been “hard at work” on new music for almost a month with nothing to show for it, while Niall Horan has already popped out solo single. All of this could change pretty quickly as Liam has just revealed that he’s been spending time with Pharrell Williams. The possibly former One Direction member shared a photo with Pharrell in the studio on Instagram. “Great few days with @pharrell pleasure working with you as always,” he captioned the image.

Nick Jonas, Ed Sheeran, Sia, Nicki Minaj and Others Stand Up For Racial Equality At “Shining A Light” Concert

Nick Jonas Pink Sting Ed SheeranA&E aired its two-hour “Shining a Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America” last night, which featured appearances and performances by stars including Nick Jonas, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams, Sia, Sting, Andra Day, Nicki Minaj, Tori Kelly, Pink and others. The special event was meant to raise funds and awareness for charities supporting constructive activism for improving race relations in the US.

Instead of singing their own songs, artists at the event performed inspirational songs that underscored the theme of activism.

Among the highlights were a duet by Nick Jonas and Andra Day, Ed Sheeran’s folksy rendition of “People Get Ready,” and a slightly bizarre but powerful performance of “Many Rivers to Cross” by Sia. For her performance, rapper Nicki Minaj chose to recite Maya Angelou’s iconic poem,”Still I Rise.”

Selena Gomez Teaming Up with Gwen Stefani as a Mentor on “The Voice”

selenaUs Weekly reports that Selena Gomez will be joining season 9 of NBC’s successful music franchise,“The Voice,” as Gwen Stefani’s mentor along with a few other musicians. Brad Paisley was chosen for Blake Shelton’s team, Missy Elliot will join Pharrell, and John Fogerty will be a mentor for Adam Levine.

Earlier this year, Selena appeared on Z100’s The Elvis Duran Show promoting her most recent single “Good For You.” When discussing her music, the 23-year-old singer famously admitted “I know that maybe vocally I wouldn’t be the greatest singer in the world.”

With that admission from the pop princess herself, this will make watching her mentoring all the more interesting. Will she really be the right mentor for contestants who have stronger voices?  Or will her honesty – and the hard work that she’s had to put into other areas of her performance – actually turn out to be an even more valuable set of assets for young performers trying to get the most out of their talent?

“The Voice” returns Monday, September 21 8/7c on NBC.
