Zendaya was blowing up on Twitter Wednesday as she reacted to the disturbing images in newly released video of a police officer shooting Philando Castile. A public release of the footage has sparked further outrage following a not guilty verdict for Officer Jeronimo Yanez. Zendaya went on a full scale tweet storm to vent her outrage.
“If you find this in any way acceptable…shame on you,” she wrote in the first of several plaintive, angry tweets. “I’m so disturbed and disgusted.”
She then retweeted the dash cam footage and footage from the back of the police cruiser where Philando’s girlfriend Diamond Reynolds was handcuffed after her boyfriend was shot. Diamond was being comforted by her daughter, who was in the car with her.
“Murder is murder,” Zendaya wrote in another tweet. “That…was murder.” Zendaya has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has been involved in drawing attention to Philando’s case.
“We live in a country where black people can comply, do everything right and still be MURDERED over a brake light..in front of their child!!?
