Selena Gomez has been a priceless asset during the promotion of “13 Reasons Why.” Serving as an executive producer, Selena has been the new series’ face as it introduces several unknown young actors on the Netflix original. Two of those new faces just entered the Selenator hall of fame, though, as they got matching tattoos with the popstar this weekend.
Tommy Dorfman and Alisha Boe were on a tour of “13 Reasons Why” billboards with Selena when the trio decided to get some ink. All three of them got semicolon tattoos on their wrists. The semicolon has a deep meaning related to the 13-episode TV show’s story about a teenager’s suicide.
Started in 2013, Project Semicolon is a movement designed to give people struggling mental health a chance to be visible. Whether someone wears it to mark their own struggle or to support someone else through theirs, the symbol is meant to be a rejection of suicide. It’s intended to be a message about continuing life’s sentence instead of ending it.
Selena has discussed her own struggles a lot while promoting the series. After canceling the end of her “Revival Tour” in order to re-enter rehab, the show has been her first major public project. It’s been keeping her busy when she’s not hanging with The Weeknd.
