The release of Miley Cyrus’ “Malibu” marked her return to music and her roots so it was only fitting that she also returned to the place where it all began. On Thursday, Miley stopped by Radio Disney to promote her new single. While celebrating the release, her old friends at Disney surprised her with the “Hannah Montana” audition tape from over 10 years ago.
“You all are going to freak out,” Miley chuckled as the video played. “By the way, my t-shirt says ‘I should have my own TV show.'” As Miley and the Radio Disney crew continued to rewatch the footage, they took note of her attitude right at the start of her career. After Miley had finished her “Hannah Montana” audition song, someone asked her if she had been signed to a record label. “No, but it’s going to happen,” she responded confidently.
“That is crazy,” Miley said after rewatching the audition. “That is a jewel. That is a gem.”
