Ed Sheeran did well at the 2018 GRAMMYs. He won two trophies at Sunday night’s show, but he wasn’t there to pick up his new hardware. Instead, Ed says he was in bed asleep and woke up to the news of his wins.
Maybe Ed Sheeran should start his own streaming service. The singer has set another record on Spotify as 2017 comes to a close. According to Forbes, he has just become the first artist in history to register two songs with over a billion streams on the platform.
Ed Sheeran said, “Cheerio, Yanks!” as he appeared on the Monday broadcast of “Good Morning America.” The singer talked about how shocked he still is that he’s even famous and what it’s like to be the man behind the number-one wedding song in the world. Turns out it means a lot of wedding invites where there’s a convenient guitar at the reception.
“I don’t get asked to play the wedding. I just get invited,” Ed said. “It gets to a certain point in the night where I’m a bit hammered.” That’s when his friends take advantage of that moment to pop the question: Will he play “Thinking Out Loud”?
“That’s happened a bunch of times,” Ed confessed. “They’re like, ‘Oh, Ed–there’s a guitar. It’s so weird there’s a guitar here.'” Convenient guitars aside, Ed doesn’t sound that upset at the regular request from his friends at their weddings.
Harry Styles just reached new heights on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and he did it as a solo act. The singer’s debut single, “Sign of the Times,” entered the charts at number four with Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” taking the top spot for the 12th week.
Though Harry’s solo debut was solid, Zayn still holds the title as having the best solo debut out of all the One Direction members past and present. And its Zayn’s number one that has Harry fans foaming at the mouth to defend the singer against the Zquad.
Ed Sheeran was this week’s musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.” He performed both of his successful singles—”Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill“—from his upcoming album, “Divide.” The songs were backed by the house band, but Ed made sure to highlight his acoustic guitar skills.
His busy weekend is just getting started. After performing Saturday night in New York, Ed flew into Los Angeles where he is set to perform at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.
