Many people expected BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend to be cancelled following the bombing that occurred after the Ariana Grande concert, but it’s still a go as artists and fans will gather for the event. However, the incident in Manchester will not be ignored.
Security in Hull, where the event will be taking place, will be heightened. A spokesperson from BBC Radio 1 told NME, “Our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those affected by the tragic events in Manchester…The health and safety of everyone involved in Big Weekend is now our primary focus.”
Artists like Lorde, The Chainsmokers, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Little Mix and more are scheduled to perform on May 27 and 28.
