Katy Perry was ready to fan the flames of her feud with Taylor Swift when she first dropped her diss track, “Swish Swish.” But after the Manchester attack on an Ariana Grande concert, Katy started calling for unity among the fans. Apparently, that call is extending to her fellow artists, as well.
“‘Swish Swish‘ just basically is like, I stay winning,” she explained. “I just like, you know, I’m above that crap. I’m gonna stay winning. You gonna try to hold me down, I’m gonna come out like a phoenix rising. You know, it’s not about any one thing,” Katy said, responding to a direct question about whether or not the song was about Taylor. “Like, of course we have our situation.”
Katy advised the radio show’s hosts to check out what she had to say about the beef on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” before adding, “I did try and reach out to her. I tried to do the right thing, the good thing, and, you know, she shut me down and wrote a song.”
Katy did admit that she would take a call or FaceTime from Taylor at a moment’s notice: “I am ready because I think when women unite, the world is going to heal. I don’t have any beef really with anyone. Honestly, I love everyone and I think we need to unite now more than ever. I think we see that today especially–like, we need to come together and love on each other today.”
