After being accused and denying the accusations that she sampled a song from indie duo Sleigh Bells, Demi Lovato is now facing a copyright infringement lawsuit. The Hollywood Reporter claims that the group has named Demi as well as UMG and the song’s producers as defendants in a case alleging the singer used parts of the song “Infinity Guitars” in her track “Stars.”
Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly reported that Demi Lovato had been accused of sampling two songs by indie duo Sleigh Bells for her track “Stars,” off her album “Confident.” Shortly after the claims were reported, Demi’s producers Carl Falk and Rami issued a statement denying the accusations.
It appears that Sleigh Bells doesn’t believe those denials. The duo’s rep issued a statement apparently in response the remarks of Demi’s producers asserting “I can confirm that the band feels their music has been sampled without proper clearance and are seeking all available remedies with [Lovato's record label] Island Records.”
Demi Lovato has yet to personally comment on the music sampling allegations, and continues to promote her upcoming tour with Nick Jonas.
But it looks like Sleigh Bells’ camp is serious about pursuing its claims.

Well, looks like this has become a week for the lawyers. First, Taylor Swift was reportedly in the process of being sued for stealing lyrics. Now, Entertainment Weekly reports that Demi Lovato is being accused of allegedly sampling a song for one of her “Confident” tracks.
The song in question is “Stars,” and alternative rock duo Sleigh Bells appears to have posted accusations on Twitter that Demi used elements of the duo’s songs “Infinity Guitars” and “Riot Rhythm” without its permission.Demi has yet to comment on the accusations, but her producers have already responded. In a follow-up statement to Entertainment Weekly, producers Carl Falk and Rami, who also helped pen the track, denied sampling the songs. “We did not use any samples in Demi Lovato’s song ‘Stars.’ Demi was also not involved with the production. She only wrote top line,” the producers say.
We have clips of all the songs in question below.
