Halsey Throws Major Shade At The Chainsmokers Who Gave Her A Number-One Single

Halsey throws shade at The ChainsmokersHalsey threw some shade at her former collaborators The Chainsmokers on Sunday when she performed her only number-one single “Closer.” The trio teamed up for the EDM-pop track back in 2016, and, according to Halsey, there is only one part of that song that is worthy of being performed.

“I’m gonna skip to my part though, ok? Because my part is the better part anyway,” Halsey announced to the iHeartRadio Village Festival crowd. There doesn’t appear to be any hard feelings on The Chainsmokers’ end, since the duo was too busy performing at the Global Citizen Festival to think about the pop star’s digs.

The U.K. Charts Are Changing Rules To Keep Ed Sheeran From Taking Over Again

The U.K. Charts Are Changing Rules To Keep Ed Sheeran From Taking Over Again featureIn a new announcement shared Monday, the U.K.’s Official Charts service announced sweeping changes to how artists and songs qualify for chart positions. According to the new rules, any individual artist can have no more than three songs in the Official Singles Chart Top 100. The move comes in response to streaming services’ influence on music consumption and to help lesser known acts find a way onto the charts.

The Official Charts cited Little Mix, Drake, The Chainsmokers, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Stormzy as examples of artists who wouldn’t have had as much chart success if the new rules had always been in place. But the worst offender being busted is Ed Sheeran, who saw all 16 songs from his latest album in the top 20 when it dropped.

Official Charts claims that music streaming has doubled in the last year alone and is still surging at 1.2 billion streams a week being counted for chart purposes. Counting each play, even as a fraction of a sale, means that repeated listens on streaming services can boost chart position in a way repeated listens on physical copies never could.

Camila Cabello Reveals Why Halsey Is Featured On “Closer” Instead Of Her

Camila Cabello reveals why she turned down The ChainsmokersCamila Cabello stopped by “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” on Thursday to discuss her upcoming solo album. During the interview, the singer revealed why her recorded version of “Closer” by The Chainsmokers is not the version fans of the song are used to.

“I loved the song, but I had to turn it down ’cause I was with the group at the time and we were about to put an album out,” Camila revealed. Although The Chainsmokers were interested in collaborating with Camila, the group moved on to Halsey.

“I always tried to do my solo stuff off cycle, so that was like super on and so I had to say no,” Camila explained. With a bit of regret she added, “And then it was like the number-one song in the world.” The song was more than just number one, it ended up being nominated for a Grammy Award as well as winning a few Billboard Music Awards.

The Chainsmokers Retract The Shade Thrown At Lady Gaga

The Chainsmokers retract Lady Gaga shadeThe Chainsmokers learned a very valuable lesson after shading Lady Gaga’s comeback release, “Perfect Illusion.” The EDM duo didn’t hide their dislike for the single during their October 2016 Rolling Stone interview, saying “it sucks.”

Months later–and after some proper media training–The Chainsmokers are retracting its earlier comments. During a recent interview on Howard Stern, Alex Pall defended his statements with the classic out of context excuse. “It was really taken out of context,” he told Howard. Since making the original statement, Alex says the group has spoken to Lady Gaga to explain the situation, but reveals the lesson learned.

“I’m 32 now, and no one’s given a shit what I’ve said for 30 years of my life … I felt bad,” he said. “I don’t think it’s cool to make those sort of judgments anyway. Keep it to yourself.”
