Demi Lovato’s new single may sound like a slow-burning diss track for an ex-boyfriend, but she says that’s not the case. She’s ready to shut down speculation that the new track is about her ex, Wilmer Valderrama, and it turns out the “ex” she’s singing about is a little closer to home.
Demi says the track is about herself and her relationship with drugs and alcohol. The sober singer said as much during an interview earlier this week and reportedly confirmed it when a fan asked her about it on Instagram.
“People only think that it’s a clap back song towards an ex-boyfriend,” Demi said during her interview, “but, like I said, I’m on really good terms with them.”
“It actually has a double meaning,” Demi said of her new track. “To me, it’s about drugs and alcohol.” Demi said the track isn’t aimed at Wilmer–it’s aimed at her own addiction.
