Selena Gomez’s recent success from “Revival” has earned her a prestigious award. Billboard has announced that the 23 year-old singer will be presented with the 2015 Chart Topper Award at the annual “Women in Music” event on December 11th in New York City.
“Revival” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200, and the lead single “Good For You” was Selena’s fastest-selling platinum track ever. The award, which is meant to recognize Selena’s achievements on the Billboard charts, was given to Iggy Azalea last year.
“We want to highlight this moment for a woman who has become a role model for many, a feminist, an independent voice whose new album truly showcases her as a mature artist,” Janice Min, co-president of Guggenheim Media’s entertainment group, said in the announcement.
Lady Gaga will also be given the 2015 Woman of the Year award for contributions to music as well as her philanthropy, artistry, and leadership. Last year, Taylor Swift won the award.
The Women in Music event will be televised for the first time on December 18th.
