One of the most awaited smartphone ‘OnePlus 5‘ is finally launched today after being in rumors and leaks for so long. OnePlus launched it as per schedule in an Online event. However, in India, OnePlus 5 will be launched on June 22.
Talking about the phone, OnePlus 5 is as beautiful and power packed as we expected. From processing power to Software and Design, it is far much upgraded from all its predecessors and i doubt if it has any competition in the market as of now, other than iPhone 7, Galaxy S8 and LG G6. Let’s take a close look at the device.
OnePlus 5 is just 7.25mm thick packed inside an Anodized Aluminum unibody metal design. It also has the Alert Slider as we have seen in earlier OnePlus devices. On the front we get a physical Home button which has a Ceramic fingerprint Sensor integrated into that is responsive enough to unlock the device in just 0.2 seconds.
Well, above that, we get a beautiful 5.5 inch Full HD Optic AMOLED display with DCI-P3 color coverage offering 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It is protected with latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The new OnePlus 5 comes out of the box running Android 7.1.1 Nougat based company’s own ‘Oxygen OS’. But this time, it has a bunch of new features. One of which is the new Reading Mode feature that brings you e-reader like viewing experience by filtering out blue light using gray-scale mapping and getting data from the ambient sensor. Soon, it will get the new Android O update too.
OnePlus 5 is powered with the latest and fastest Snapdragon 835 2.45GHz Octa-Core 64-bit 10nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 540 GPU. Which is further accompanied by 6GB and 8GB LPDDR4x RAM. You just can’t doubt about multitasking or performance at such power packed processing speed.
As said, OnePlus 5 comes in two variants for RAM and storage. One of which is 6GB of RAM with 64GB storage memory, and the other is 8GB RAM with 128GB storage memory. These storages are based on UFS 2.1 paired up with new 2-lane ROM that simply double up the bandwidth that helps to faster the performance storage performance. Which means transferring data or installing new stuffs on the phone will be much faster than before.
Just like all other high end flagships now a days, OnePlus 5 also brings Dual Rear Camera setup. We get a 16 Megapixel primary rear camera + 20 Megapixel secondary rear camera that captures depth information for depth-of-field (bokeh) effect. It helps to Blur the background in portrait mode. We can also use 2x zoom.
Talking these cameras in more details, the primary 16 Megapixel camera is powered with dual LED Flash, Sony IMX398 sensor, f/1.7 aperture, 1.12μm pixel size and EIS. While the secondary 20 Megapixel shooter is powered with f/2.6 aperture, Sony IMX350 sensor and 1.0μm pixel size.
Using these cameras, not only we can capture brighter, sharper, and crispy pictures but also record up to Ultra HD 4K videos at 30fps, Full HD 1080p videos at 60fps, and HD 720p Slow-Mo videos at 120fps.
That’s not all. For Selfie fans, OnePlus 5 has a huge 16 Megapixel front-facing camera with Sony IMX371 sensor, 1.0μm pixel size and f/2.0 aperture.
