The launcher got a bit of an update, you still have the shelf, the swipe up and swipe down to get rid of it. You will also notice these small dot besides icon if you’ve got any notification, you press them and hold and you’ll see it will give a brief introduction about the notification. You can swipe it away to dismiss, tap on it to open or also edit widgets app info and remove.

Now these notification dots are on the home screen icons, as well in the app drawer, and of-course you can see all your notification by swiping down your screen. Once you swipe down, you will notice the quick settings button so that you don’t have to swipe down twice even if you do it stays at the same spot. These quick widgets or setting tabs got a theme update too so you can change the accent colors as per your choice.

There are few changes about how you handle your notification too. For example if you have a Gmail notification, if you swipe right slightly you get two small tabs, one is for snooze and one of settings. You can snooze the notification for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 2 hours, so you can see that notification again if you’re in some meeting or not in a situation to see it. Another really big feature is the Picture-in-picture mode has come OnePlus 5T.

So in case if you’re navigating on the maps and if you press the home button, it will bring you to the home screen but with a small floating picture of Maps on the Home Screen. You can hold that picture and place it anywhere on the Home Screen or just drag it down to dismiss it, but you will still have the map running in the background and have the notification by swiping down the screen.

Another major feature in Oreo is the auto-fill, so it will save your username and password to specific apps if the developer has enabled it. So this is great feature to save time for logging into apps or even if your switch our phones. Another feature which is not known to lot of people is the ‘Smart Text Selection’. So in this feature, Android looks at what you’re selecting and gives you suggested apps for specific contexts. So for an example, if you have selected an address from any screen or a message, it will recognize it and suggest you the Maps app for quick navigation, or if you select any link or a web address, it will suggest you Chrome browser.

So hope the OnePlus 5T owner will be happy now, and even the readers.
