People Magazine confirmed a TMZ report from yesterday indicating that Demi Lovato had “temporarily” checked herself out of an in-patient facility outside of Los Angeles. Demi had recently checked into that in-patient rehabilitation program after being released from emergency medical care at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for an apparent drug overdose.
According to People Magazine’s sources, Demi checked out of rehab to visit a Chicago-based psychiatrist specializing in mental health and sobriety. She was accompanied on the trip by her mother, Dianna De La Garza, on the trip to Chicago.
People’s source suggested that Demi’s committed to doing whatever she needs to do to make her recovery work. “She’s in the midst of recovery. It’s going to be a long road, and Demi knows that. Emotionally, it hasn’t been easy, but she’s doing okay.”
There is no clear timeline for when Demi plans to return to rehab, but People’s source seems to suggest that it is expected that the pop singer will spend at least “several days” with the specialist in Chicago.
