Xiaomi Redmi 1S Review
Xiaomi is fastest emerging Chinese Smartphone company in Indian market. We have already heard about Xiaomi’s Mi 3 and Mi 4 and the performance associated with it. Xiaomi has captured market in no time and has potential to update its Smartphone at regular interval. Xiaomi just now launched Xiaomi Mi 4 as higher end smartphone and soon after the release Xiaomi is all set to release its mid-range Smartphone Redmi 1S.
After the revolution created in the market by Moto G and Moto E all other Smartphone companies is following the same strategy to capture budget market segment. A big challenge for Xiaomi Redmi 1S as it will face well set market of Moto G and other Smartphone which is best seller in budgetary price segment. Redmi 1S is perfected with good hardware configuration and other features and we are going to test those features and configuration of Redmi 1S to know whether this phone is truly a challenge for Moto G or is much better than Moto G.
Design and Packaging:
Xiaomi Redmi 1S has planned the Smartphone very cleverly with good display and handy body design. A Redmi 1S measure with 137 x 69 x 9.9mm means it is approximately the same size of Apple iPhone 6. Only the size of the phone resemble with Apple iPhone 6 rest body design and structure is totally different. Compare to Moto G display of the phone is little bigger of Redmi 1S. Weight of the phone is 158grams and is little heavier for budget smart phones. Xiaomi Redmi 1S doesn’t show up premium looks but with respect to the price of the phone it has comparatively good ergonomics.
Redmi 1S has rectangular body shape with no curved edges. Front of the phone is given with huge display in middle and above the display houses with front facing camera, sensors and earpiece. Front of the phone is fully covered with AGC Dragontrail glass which is absent in Xiaomi’s high-end smartphone. Back panel of the phone is matte finish body covering the sides of the Smartphone. Below the display we have capacitive touch buttons glowing red in color which is surprising by Xiaomi.
Left side of the phone is completely vacant whereas right side of the phone has silver volume rocker button and power key. Top of the smartphone has 3.5mm audio jack and bottom of the phone is placed with microUSB port and primary microphone. Back of the phone is matte finished and houses with primary camera, flash and secondary microphone in the center of the top.
Besides the camera unit, Xiaomi has placed loudspeaker grill of the phone which is strange for any Smartphone. Back panel of the phone is removable and underneath has removable battery, microSD card slot and two SIM slot. Most of the smartphone comes with non-removable back cover but Xiaomi has produced removable back cover for its new flagship.
Display / Screen:
Xiaomi Redmi 1S is featuring with 4.7-inch IPS display with resolution of 1280X720pixel and packed with 312ppi pixel density. Moto G is also having same display properties except pixel density which is more compact in Moto G. To stand alone against its competitor Xiaomi Redmi 1s is featuring with AGC Dragontrail glass for protection against scratches and cracks. May be Xiaomi has started a revolution with Dragontrail glass as most of the companies rely on Gorilla Glass for display protection.
If you raise the brightness level to 100% still you will get good contrast and color reproduction. Glass of the display is reflective and under bright light it looks dull or it is hard to read the content. Xiaomi has worked well to provide accurate color temperature and saturation and can be set manually. Overall the display of the phone is good for budget segment market but compare to Moto G it lacks behind.
